Another royal wedding is right around the corner. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are set to marry on October 12, 2018. The price tag for the wedding will be high, so the newlyweds will need some help. How will Eugenie and Jack pay for the ceremony? Here’s what we know.
The wedding details
Like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank will be married in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. This is also where Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles were married back in 2005. Unlike the other royal couples, Prince Charles and Princess Diana were married at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Also like Prince Harry and Meghan, Princess Eugenie and Jack will take a horse-drawn carriage ride after their wedding ceremony. Members of the public will be allowed to join the celebration. According to Kensington Palace, the couple announced they will allow 1,200 people from across the United Kingdom to come to the grounds of Windsor Castle to participate. “The attendees will view the arrival of the congregation and Members of the Royal Family, listen to a live broadcast of the Marriage Service and watch as the Bride and Groom depart St George’s Chapel at the end of the ceremony,” said the announcement.
A royal price tag
Royal weddings aren’t cheap. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding cost north of $33 million just for security, according to E! News estimates. That’s roughly how much Prince William and Kate Middleton paid for security for their 2011 wedding. Overall, British wedding app Bridebook, estimate Meghan and Harry’s wedding cost about $43 million.
How the couple met
So how did the lovebirds first meet? Princess Eugenie and Jack reportedly moved within the same social circles. Brooksbank was friends with Princess Eugenie’s cousin, Prince William. The couple officially met back in 2010 during a Switzerland ski trip. Eugenie’s family was celebrating the 50th birthday of her father, the Duke of York. At the time of their meeting, Brooksbank was working as a waiter and Eugenie was a student at Newcastle University. Eugenie and Brooksbank told the host of BBC’s The One Show With Matt Baker their meeting was “love at first sight.”
Will Princess Eugenie and Jack have a prenuptial agreement?
It’s unlikely the pair will sign a prenuptial agreement. The royals have traditionally shied away from making this document part of the wedding process. Despite the family’s wealth, neither Prince Charles nor Prince William asked their wives to sign a prenup, according to the UK’s Express. Meghan and Prince Harry also followed the path of royals before them and decided to forget about the prenup.
Here’s who will pay for Princess Eugenie’s wedding
Princess Eugenie and Jack won’t be on the hook for the entire wedding cost. The royal family will likely pay for some of the major expenses. In the past, they paid for both Prince Harry’s and Prince William’s weddings. Just about everything will be covered except for security costs, reports the UK’s Express. The remaining costs will be paid for by Princess Eugenie’s father Prince Andrew, Duke of York, their mother, Sarah Ferguson, and the Brooksbank family, according to Business Insider.
