The royal family might have paid for her wedding, but Kate Middleton still tried to save where she could. According to reports, the Duchess of Cambridge did her own wedding makeup.

Like Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle is no stranger to doing her own hair and makeup. The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly the one behind her messy buns and low-key makeup, which she often sports while on official business.

The Duchess of Cambridge has gained a lot of attention for her outfit repeats. From jeans to coats to dresses, Kate Middleton does not shy away from recycling some of her looks.

According to reports, members of the royal family might borrow clothing from certain designers, but they pay for a majority of their wardrobes. So, when she spends a pretty penny on a designer coat, Kate Middleton (understandably) wants to get some extra use out of it.  

Meghan Markle brings home leftovers

When Meghan Markle was dating Prince Harry, the future Duchess of Sussex was spotted leaving the 2017 Invictus Games with a doggy bag. Prince Harry’s then-girlfriend was dubbed an “economical princess” and “down-to-earth” following the gesture.

At Blackpool Central Library The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined people involved in CECD Blackpool’s ‘A Better Start’ programme, including health visitors, practitioners from the Blackpool Hospital Family Nurse Partnership, and parents. Let’s be honest: Kate Middleton doesn’t exactly have to worry about money. However, the royal family is keen on staying as relatable as possible (which is probably where their frugal spending comes from) and tries to save wherever they can. When shopping, the Duchess of Cambridge is allegedly smart with her spending and buys clothing items that are on sale.

Meghan Markle’s pregnancy wardrobe is worth 7 times more than Kate Middleton’s

Meghan Markle has spent quite a bit of money on her pregnancy wardrobe. According to Love the Sales, the Duchess of Sussex’s pregnancy wardrobe is worth over $600,000 and seven times more than Kate Middleton’s. While the cost of Meghan Markle’s pregnancy wardrobe is alarming and probably makes her less frugal than her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex has other spending habits that saves her money.

Both royal women favor affordable fashion brands

While it appears Meghan Markle might spend a little more than her sister-in-law, both royal women favor affordable fashion brands and wear them often. Some of Kate Middleton’s go-tos include Zara and J. Crew while Meghan Markle loves Aritzia, Mother Denim, and has even worn an H&M ensemble.

The royal family is known for its frugality

Although Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle married into the royal family, they fit right in with (some of) their spending habits. Despite having the funds to pay for an extravagant life, many members of the royal family — especially Queen Elizabeth — are considered very frugal.
