WYOMING — Clayton Wayne Carlson, Age 92, of Wyoming passed away peacefully on April 25, 2019.

Clayton was born September 22, 1926 in Warsaw,son of the late John and Fannie Dersam Carlson. He was a graduate of Warsaw High School at the age of 15. Self-employed his whole life, he enjoyed photography and woodworking. He photographed his first wedding in 1950, soon after established Carlson’s Studio, and for 40 years, continued to capture the special memories of generations, families and friends, spending countless hours in his darkroom. He created unique wood projects and later in life turned hundreds of wooden bowls on his lathe. Over the years he developed his property and enjoyed being a steward of his land. As a youth he received recognition from the Defense Dept. for making model airplanes used for WWll identification training. He was engaged in his community, had a strong faith and sense of service. He was a longtime member and past President of the Warsaw Kiwanis where he put in many hours in activities such as: clam tent, Kiwanis auction, glass recycling, and most recently the Salvation Army bell ringing. He served on the Warsaw Town Board and as Library Trustee, was a member of the United Church of Warsaw where he served on various boards, 4-H club leader, and Farm Bureau where he served as a National Delegate. He was a longtime member of the Kitchen Konference and a close group of friends affectionately known as the “Dirty Dozen”. He often submitted photos to various papers over his lifetime, helping to promote and honor those that were doing good deeds. He donated over 5 gallons of blood in his lifetime, and would encourage anyone to get a shingles shot.

Clayton was married 69 years to his beloved wife, Lucille Strathearn, who passed away in November, 2016. He was preceded in death by his siblings: a sister Agnes (Henry) Wilcox, and brothers Elton (Eleanor) Carlson and John Carlson, and surviving are his brother, Allan (Joyce) Carlson of Warsaw.

Surviving are his children: Mary Carlson of Wyoming, Roger (Debbie Anstett) Carlson of Alden, Larry (Ruth) Carlson of Middlebury, IN, Kevin (Gwen) Carlson of Wyoming; daughter in law, Kathleen Carlson of Springville; grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Carlson, Rachel Carlson, Jennifer (Brandon) Jenkins, Megan (Matt Sheehan) Grawe, Darcy (Steve) Ebersol, Laura (Tony) Chapman, Neil (Sarah Woods) Carlson, Ross (Christy) Carlson, Emily (Ryan) Reis, Sarah (Keith Clark) Carlson; great grandchildren, Ethan Grawe, Peyton Grawe, Cooper Carlson, Cal Carlson, Kennedy Jenkins, Jackson Jenkins, Rudy Chapman, Lucille Chapman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Saturday, May 11th, from 9:30 – 12:30 PM at the United Church of Warsaw. (corner of S. Main and E. Buffalo St.), Warsaw. A celebration of a life well lived to follow at 12:30pm.
