Aren’t wedding receptions the greatest?
You’re outside in a beautiful area, sipping an endless supply of champagne, snacking on yummy finger foods, and dancing badly with your friends while wearing a cute summer outfit.
If only obnoxious family members and coworkers weren’t there to make it awkward. What if you could have the same experience but without the bride’s creepy drunk uncle hitting on you? Enter the annual summer event, Bubbles and Brunch, held at Sugar Mill Pond in Youngsville.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Last year, we covered the differences between the various types of bubbly wine, from champagne and sparkling wine to Cava and Prosecco. This year, organizers have made a few changes to make your Bubbles and Brunch experience even better.
This year, your ticket not only gets you access to over ten different types of sparkling wine but it also gets you access to unlimited brunch bites from Tony Chachere’s.
“The unlimited brunch samples are something we are adding this year,” says Social Entertainment event coordinator Britlyn Delahoussaye. “Last year, they weren’t included in the ticket price, so this is a great deal.”
You can expect to snack on items such as grits and grillades and smoked salmon and caviar crepe cake. Um, excuse me? That sounds amazing.
Each participant receives their very own champagne flute to taste away the afternoon from Southern Glaziers. While there won’t be any real champagne, there will be three types of Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine that tastes like green apple and pear; two types of Cava, a Spanish sparkling that tastes like toast and almonds; and three types of Chandon from California – a sweet, a rose and a brut.
Try the Veuve de Vernay for a similar taste profile to real Champagne. (Remember, the real stuff comes from the Champagne region of France.) There will be plenty of options to try ranging from sweet to dry. You can even take tasting notes to impress the cutie in line next to you.
Once you get your fill of wine, another new option added this year is the Bloody Mary bar, provided by Tony’s Chachere’s.
They’ll have a full service cash bar featuring brunch-inspired cocktails to cleanse your palate after all of the wine tasting.
Shop the local vendor pop-up arts market, play lawn games like bag-toss and show off your summer outfits at the Socialight Selfie Station.
Cue the bad dancing with friends on the dance floor to DJ Digital. For a true wedding reception experience, kindly request (and tip) Digital to play the “Electric Slide.” Stay for Sugar Jam, the official Bubbles and Brunch after party, featuring Highway 90 Band, beginning at 6 p.m.
Tickets are available in advance for $20 and include food and wine tasting for the day at socialentertainment.net.
