Indoor Bowls

Bowls has now returned on Tuesday evenings as well as Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. in St Patrick’s/Forrester’s Hall. New members are welcome.

Parent/Toddler Group

All are welcome to come along to the parent and toddler group at the community centre from 10.30 p.m. to midday every Wednesday. €2 per child.

Horse Show quiz

The annual Kilmacanogue Horse Show will take place on Saturday, July 27, so please mark it in your Diaries. But before the big show, a table quiz will be held this Friday (14th) in the Powerscourt Arms Hotel in Enniskerry. A table of four costs €40 and the quiz will kick off at 8 p.m. and your support would be greatly appreciated.

This committee and group are run on a purely voluntary basis and so many charities and organisations, many of whom in Kilmacanogue, have benefited greatly from the show and are extremely grateful for these very kind donations. Please support the quiz and the show if you can.

Thursday, June 27, The Janet Ashe Memorial Concert: Adam Heron (piano) will perform Bach’s French Suite No. Three in B-minor BWV 814, Schubert’s Piano Sonata No. 16 in A-minor D. 845, Albéniz’s Iberia, Cuaderno one and Beethoven’s Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor Op. 27 No. Two ‘Moonlight’. Local artist, Jack Lawlor (piano), will play Chopin’s Nocturne in Eb major, Debussy’s Clair de Lune and Debussy’s La Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin.

Vintage Day

The garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club will host the Tom Kennedy Vintage and Classic Car Show at Kilmacanogue GAA Club on Sunday, July 14, from midday. All Vintage and Classic Cars, Trucks and Motor Cycles are welcome and entry is by a donation at the gate on the day. All proceeds will go to St Anne’s Oncology Ward in St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.

Soccer summer camp

The Glencormac United annual summer Camp for children aged from four to 14 will once again take place from Monday, July 1, to Friday, July 5, at Ryders Field. The cost is €60 for first child and €90 for two and €120 for a family of three or more. The Camp will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The club need to get an idea of attendees so can you please book your children in in the comments section.

Soccer action

Three of Glencormac United’s soccer team were in action last weekend. The under-nines played Coolboy and were beaten ibn a series of matches against a bigger Coolboy side.

The under-10s faced Roundwood, who beat the glens in their series of matches the Glens goals coming from Ben Merrigan, Darragh Murray, Killian Kearns, James Ward and Tadgh Reynolds in a good team display.

The under-11s lost 4-3 to St Patrick’s of Avoca. Toby Wainwright Smith, Cian Levins and Seán Prendergast were the goalscorers and manager Paul Prendergast was delighted with the performance of all 13 of his panel.

GAA action

The senior game against Newtown last Friday night was called off due to a bereavement in Newtown and Kilmacanogue GAA Club wish to send their condolences his family and the club. There was however some great junior action during the week.

The under-13s played a thrilling draw with St Kevin’s. They were four points down at halftime, hit back to lead by seven points with 10 minutes to go, found themselves three points down with minutes to go but snatched a draw. Managers Garreth Power and Eddie Bradshaw were delighted with the effort of all 17 of the panel.

The minors lost to St Patrick’s but were missing 11 players between holidays and leaving certificate exams.

Finally, congratulations to the under-12 ladies’ team who travelled to Rathdrum recently to play their final match in the league. With the league already wrapped up, they still played out of their skin to stayed undefeated throughout the league campaign. The final score in the match was 5-5 to 2-0 and selectors Christopher Fox and Pamela Prendergast are very proud of these up and coming stars. Well done to the champions.

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before. Session starts at 8.30 till 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a good night of exercise.

Trips

There will be a day trip to Waterford Treasures on Saturday, June 29, with time for shopping leaving Roundwood Parish Hall at 9.30 a.m. and travelling via Hollywood with tea and scones in the Dolmen Hotel in Carlow. A pilgrimage to Our Lady’s island dwill take plac eon the Sunday, August 18, leaving Roundwood Parish Hall at 10 a.m. Tea, scone and evening meal and bus will cost €65.

The Westport Country six-day break takes place from October 20 to October 25 with Robert Mizzell, Stuart Moyles, Declan Nerny among others performing. Barn dance/barbecue

A date for your diary. Moneystown barn dance and barbecue will take place on Saturday, June 29, starting at 8 p.m. till late. Fully licensed, fabulous food and great country music provided by Paul Molloy and the Whole Hog. So look up your stetson and grab your dancing shoes and come along to this great night.

Walking Group

The Roundwood Whizzers will walk the Upper Reservoir this evening meeting at the Coach House at 6.50 p.m. and at green gates on Knockraheen road at 7 p.m.

We are taking to the hills for our second summer climb on Wednesday, June 19. Our hillwalk for this month is Djouce. We will meet at 6.30 p.m. at the Coach House and carpool to Luggala. If you require further information please call 086 8055040.
