New Delhi: Senior lawyer and former Solicitor General of India Harish Salve recently married London-based artiste Caroline Brossard at a private ceremony at a church in London. Asia’s richest man, RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani also joined the celebrations virtually and raised a toast to the newlyweds.

For the uninitiated, Salve was designated as senior advocate by the Delhi High Court in 1992. He was the Solicitor General for India from 1999-2002. His name is associated with a number of high-profile cases in the country. Harish Salve represented India before the International Court of Justice in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case in May 2017. The Tata Group and ITC Limited are some of his clients.

Salve is also the legal counsel for Reliance. Raising a toast virtually from Mumbai, Ambani said that he looked forward to celebrating with the couple in person soon. The billionaire also joked that as Salve’s best-man said, he “better shell out all the money.”

In a video being circulated on the microblogging site Twitter, Ambani can be heard saying, “In that point in time, we can give you a hug, wish you the very best and I’m sure that time is not very far off. I look forward to seeing you and all your friends, this is the same set of people we met at Gleneagles. I hope we don’t allow you to go so easily with a virtual piece. Like your best man said, you better shell out all the money.”

Concluding his speech, the 63-year-old billionaire said, “Looking forward to a great celebration as soon as times become normal. This is just to wish you the best on behalf of all of us.” The ‘shell out all the money’ invoked a cheer from those present at the ceremony. Salve appreciated the toast from the billionaire and was heard saying, “Thank you Mukesh” in the video.

Note that 65-year-old Salve remarried after separation from his first wife Meenakshi in June this year. They were married for 38 years and have two daughters. Salve’s second wife Caroline Brossard is 56 and has an 18-year-old daughter from her first marriage.
