A new boutique wedding store will open in the “heart of Derby city centre” this spring, it has been announced.
The Wedding House is set for a grand unveiling in Sadler Gate on Tuesday, April 13, with the venue stretching its services across a minimum of two floors.
Owner Sophie Stew has said the store will provide a unique, deluxe experience for brides-to-be across the region.
“We want to offer luxury, one-of-a-kind days out for brides as they prepare for the big day,” she explained.
“We are installing vast, private spaces for our customers which will include large fitting areas on at least two floors, although we’re looking at potentially opening up a third, and we will offer cocktails and prosecco to guests during their visit.
“We will also have exclusive dresses from top designers across the UK, giving unrivalled access to lots of special designs.”
For Ms Stew, Sadler Gate provided the perfect venue for this elegant wedding service, giving her the chance to join some of Derby’s other popular bespoke retailers.
She said: “We wanted to offer a high-end experience in Derby and there’s nowhere better than Sadler Gate.
“It’s still a beautiful area. It’s sad to see so much empty retail space there, but there are still so many incredible boutiques, hairdressers and shops. It’s such a nice location in the heart of Derby.

“We literally just had a walk around the city centre and saw this property was available. There’s so much character to the building and we’ve incorporated that into our layout while putting our own twist on it.”
The original Wedding House, based in Alvaston for 17 years, will now be transformed into a bridal outlet, promising to offer high-quality wedding gowns at a lower cost.
By making this move, Ms Stew is hoping to offer something for every bride across the area, regardless of their budget.
She said: “The demand for The Wedding House had increased massively over 17 years, and eventually we felt we’d taken that venue as far as we could.
“Now it will be re-branded as The Lace House, and it will be a place where brides-to-be can get designer dresses at affordable prices.”
